Portville Hall of Fame

Duncan C. Wormer graduated as Valedictorian of Portville High School, Class
of 1943.  He attended the University of Buffalo until 1944 when he joined the
U.S. Navy during World War II.  In 1946, he finish his undergraduate degree at
University of Rochester, then attended medical school at the University of
Pennsylvania, completing his Internship and Residency in 1952.  The following
two years, he served as Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy Medical Corp.  In 1955,
he joined his father and brother in the family medical practice on Temple Street
in Portville.  In 1970, he opened the Wormer Medical Clinic in Portville.  For
many years he served as our school’s physician. Dr. Wormer is a member of
Portville’s American Legion and served on the town’s Planning Board for
many years.  As a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Portville, he
volunteered as a physician at St. Lucas, the Kentucky Rural Health Fair, and
the Olean Drug Clinic.
