Portville Hall of Fame
Dr. Donald A. Wormer graduated from Portville High School in 1945. He
was a member and/or captain of all the school’s sports teams, the high school
band, and recipient of the Eldridge FB Award. In 1946, he became a member
of the US Army Band in Ft. Lewis, Washington. His formal education began
at the University of Rochester, then the University of Buffalo Medical School.
He completed his Millard Fillmore Surgical Residency in Buffalo in 1960.
Returning to Portville, joined the family medical practice on Temple Street.
Don served as Chief of Surgery at Olean’s St. Francis Hospital for many years.
He retired in 1989 after serving our community for twenty-nine years.
