Portville Hall of Fame
Don Jordan was born at Olean General Hospital on March 28, 1948, the son
of Al and Mary Jordan. Mary was a member of the Portville High School
class of 1946.  Don is a lifelong resident of Portville and attended Portville
Central School, grades K through 12, graduating in 1966.

At PCS, Don was member of the Chess Club and the Chef’s Club, but he
was also an athlete.  Don is a member of the undefeated football team in the
1965-66 football season under Coach Bob Connell.

Don has had many, many work experiences, including McGraw-Edison,
Dresser Industries, PC laboratories, What Sounds Good
.  He retired in 2015
from BOCES, where he was a student and classroom aid. He feels that it has
probably been his “calling in life”.

He attended Jamestown Community College and earned his AAS in Business
in 1990.

He had many interesting life experiences, including:

  Bearing the Olympic torch for the 2002 Winter Olympics!
  Security for the Jim Kelly Auction (early 1990’s) for a few years
  Big League Softball World Series Umpire in 2015
  Ushered for the Little League World Series for 15 years
  T-Ball coach in Portville, leading to Little League involvement for over 30
years
  Member of the 1965-66 Football Club
  Member of the Portville Conservation Club
  Member of the Olean Rod & Gun Club
  PCS Sports Booster

Most recently, Don was inducted into the Cattaraugus County Sports and
Athletic Hall of Fame.

Don met his wife, Annette (Pitcher) in 1977 at A.J.’s Pub in Olean playing
euchre. They were married in 1991 at the Presbyterian Church in Portville.

Don has two children, Matt (age 46) and April ( age 44). Matt lives in Myrtle
Beach, SC, and April lives in Mesa, AZ.
